Basketball season is in full swing! Both the high school boys' and girls' teams are having a great season. I wanted to get an inside perspective of some coaches and players. I asked them all this question. How are you feeling about the season so far, and what are you most excited about in the future?

Coach Foster said, “We have had a successful season so far.  We have improved a lot since last year and get better every day.  I am excited to see how much growth we will have by the end of the year and to see where this team ends up.  When we play our best, we are a very tough team to beat, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this team!”

Coach Pierce said, “I'm really proud to see how far the team has come so far despite some setbacks. Injuries have forced us to make some adjustments and have forced guys out of their comfort zone and into some role changes midstream. We have had several guys meet those challenges head-on, which is turning us into a much more well-rounded team. I'm excited to see what the team is capable of once we are back to nearly full strength. Our groups almost always peak at the right time for a deep playoff run, and I feel we are poised to do so again.”

Gunnar Finney said, “So far, I think the season has gone pretty well. There are still some things we need to improve on and games we should have won. I’m excited to see how deep a run we can make in the playoffs.”

Lilly Johnson said, “I’m feeling pretty good about the season so far. It has been busy and a little stressful at times, but I feel like I’m starting to find my rhythm and gain more confidence. Looking ahead, I’m excited to see how everything comes together, and as a team, we finish strong.”

Paxton Glenn said, “This season has had a lot of emotion so far. I’m excited for the rest of this season, especially beating Cherokee and making a deep playoff run.”

We also want to congratulate Paxton Glenn for hitting the goal of 1,000 career points! And Payton Pierce for being named the OBCA Region 1 Free Throw Champion. He will compete at the Paycom Center this Sunday in the state free-throw finals during halftime of the Thunder game. Good luck to Payton!

The remaining home games are listed below:
