Now that we are further along in our joint effort with authorities to investigate the situation that came up yesterday afternoon, I would like to update our parents and community as much as I am able at this point. Near the end of our last hour at the Junior High/ High School, a teacher was made aware of a concerning drawing that we believe had been done recently in a textbook. That teacher handled the situation perfectly and involved administration as soon as possible. Law enforcement and the State Department of Education were involved immediately and have assisted Timberlake administration both yesterday and today to try to determine the identity of the person responsible, the motivations behind the drawing, and the best way to move forward. As in all cases, student safety is the top priority. While there have been assumptions shared as to the possible identity of the responsible party, neither law enforcement nor Timberlake administration have been able to confirm that as fact. Law enforcement officials have expressed that the drawing falls below their benchmark of an actual threat at all, and certainly not one against a specific individual.
That being said, Timberlake and law enforcement are continuing to treat this as a serious concern and are continuing efforts to determine the identity of the responsible party and severity of this issue. Please encourage students or adults that have first hand knowledge of anything of concern to share it with administration as soon as possible. As I said yesterday, administration and authorities are in agreement that all steps necessary to be able to continue safely with school as scheduled have been taken. An overwhelming majority of our students, including my own, attended an uneventful but productive day of school today. While we will continue to update as we are able, please understand that there are very concrete barriers to the information that we can share about situations regarding students, faculty, and in the case of ongoing investigations. The safety of all of our children will always be of the utmost of importance as we make decisions on behalf of our district.

Theme reminder for tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 10th - Twin with a Friend

Timberlake administration was made aware of some concerning material at the Junior High/ High School late this afternoon. Since that time, administration has been working with the appropriate authorities to investigate and ensure that the best decisions are made regarding the safety of our students and staff. Administration and authorities agree that all necessary steps have been made to allow school to continue safely and as scheduled. We ask that students or adults report anything of concern to administration as soon as possible.

Any Timberlake students or families in need of winter coats or clothing can stop by the Jet Community Church from 10:00-1:00 on Oct. 12th.
